Enterprise-focused Biometric IAM Tablet Features Suprema ID Fingerprint Scanner

2020-05-13 | Xperix

“The latest entry in Suprema ID’s BioMini Slim line of ultra-thin scanners, BioMini Slim 3 delivers a large fingerprint sensing area allowing it to capture high-quality fingerprint images.”

Mexico-based SIASA (or “Sistemas Integrales de Automatización”) has announced a new biometric tablet aimed at the enterprise.

Dubbed the BioPad, the tablet is aimed at addressing companies’ identity and access management needs.
To that end, it features a FAP 30 fingerprint sensor from Suprema ID, in the form of the BioMini Slim 3 module.

The latest entry in Suprema ID's BioMini Slim line of ultra-thin scanners, BioMini Slim 3 delivers a large fingerprint sensing area allowing it to capture high-quality fingerprint images. It also features a liveness detection algorithm based on deep learning, dubbed Fake Finger Detection, allowing it to detect spoofing attacks in which impostors try to trick the authentication system by mimicking the biometrics of an authorized user.

For its part, SIASA is a wholesale distributor of time and attendance, access control, and other equipment and software for the enterprise, and has been in operation in Mexico since 1993. And it has outfitted its new BioPad solution with a number of additional features beyond the Suprema ID-supplied fingerprint reader, including an eight-inch touchscreen, IP67 water and dust resistance, a 1.8 GHz processor, and a 13.56 MHz contactless smart card reader. The device runs on Android 9.0, and supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as TCP/IP connectivity through an optional RJ45 adaptor.

The BioPad will be available in a standard version and as a special version sporting a built-in Zebra SE7410 barcode reader, and SIASA says it will launch the device in Mexico and Latin America starting this month.
